To Join This Challenge, You Will Need:

1. To become familiar with the The Alternate-Day Diet. Information can be found on the founder's website, and you should also order the book to get more information on how the program works, recipes.

2. The challenge will also involve meal replacement shakes on your "down days." I would suggest using the shakes and meal replacements offered by Take Shape For Life, but if cost is an issue, you should check out DietDirect.com which has a lot of shakes and meal replacements at much lower prices.

3. This wouldn't be a challenge without exercise. For this challenge, I'm using Leslie Sansone's Walk Slim - 4 Fast Miles (2-Disc Set) every day for 90 days (takes about 45 minutes to complete), and The Science of Fitness with Tamilee - I Want That Body! for strength training (15 minutes).

Day 11

So I'm on Day 11, and so far everything has been good. This week is my Alternate DAY week, so I've been taking full advantage of the "eat anything you want" thing on my "up" days. I wanted to try to show restraint on my up days, but that didn't end up being the case. The only thing is, on the day after the down days, the 4 mile walk/jog kicks my butt! So I'm not realistically going to be able to do the 4 miles on my down weeks. I'll just stick with the EA sports on the wii every other day on those weeks.

But it seems like I'm getting rapid results. I wouldn't know for sure since I'm not weighing in, but I can tell I've lost weight. Next week I return to the all liquid diet, and I'm not really looking forward to that!

First week just about completed

I'm happy to say that I've already eaten my last meal for today and this marks the end of a week of fasting for me. I'm very proud of myself for having made it through this with everything that went on this week! And I'm very grateful to my SO for being so supportive of me (probably because he's as eager for me to lose the weight as I am, but oh well, it is what it is!). I don't know how much I weigh, and don't plan to find out anytime soon, but people have already begun commenting on how it looks like I've slimmed down--and I'm getting noticed more when I'm out. A man in front of me at Walgreens called me gorgeous and I was caught off guard, tongue tied and kind of embarrassed. I'm a low key person and I really don't feel comfortable getting compliments like that in front of everyone.

As far as the "fasting," it was easy and hard. Easy because at no point did I experience hunger--hard because I'm an emotional eater. Yet, I was around several people as they ate and my body didn't react in that food addict way. I did end up taking a hunger suppressant with hoodia, so that could be why I didn't have any specific cravings.

I also am doing the EA Sports "More Workouts" 6 week challenge on the Wii and that has been fun. I don't feel the burn though, so I'm upping the intensity next week.

Day 3

It should be a crime to be this sleepy. The lack of rest combined with low calories is making me feel pretty lazy. I CANNOT WAIT until Monday, which is when I'll be on the Alternate Day Diet week. I'm imagining what I'm going to eat and /or cook. Maybe Red Lobster's? :)

I was tempted to get on the scale but I know that's the absolute last thing I should do if I plan on continuing. I actually don't think it'll be safe for me to weigh in at anytime during these 12 weeks because my goal is so ambitious I would only get discouraged if I didn't seem on track to making it. Better to just go through the program and have some good results, rather than quit and get nowhere. At the end of the day, I'd be pleased with a 50 pound loss, or even 45 pound loss. Thank goodness I look pretty good in the 140-150 lb range!

Day 2

Today was a bit harder. I did have fleeting thoughts of cheating... Only because I had so much to do and had very little sleep last night--

I worked out early this morning, then I had a lot of errands to do. I ended up taking another diet pill today. Now it's time to eat my 4th shake and hopefully take a nap.
